It’s Well Worth the Effort!

As we sang, my mind went to High Rocks!

High Rocks is located 2.0 miles south of Spivey Gap on the Appalachian Trail near Burnsville, NC. AllTrails app says it well, “Take a series of switchbacks leading through a steep section of trail up to the summit of High Rocks. While the beginning may be challenging, the views from the top of High Rocks are well worth the effort.”

Totally agree! “The views from the top . . . are well worth the effort.” Add in the absolute quiet all around and this short hike will be an awe-inspiring adventure that leads to adoration of our great God, the Creator and Sustainer of it all (Colossians 1:15-17).

That’s where congregationally singing “Jesus, my Lord, my God, my All” brought High Rocks to my mind.

Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all
hear me, O Savior, when I call;
hear me, and from your dwelling-place
pour down the riches of your grace:
   Jesus, my Lord, whom I adore,
   help me to love you more and more.

Just as Rick, my hiking buddy, and I stood at the vista in adoration of all that our eyes and mind could take in, that’s how we, especially my preacher friends, should be on Monday morning . . . in adoration of “Jesus, my Lord, whom [we] adore.”

Preacher, no matter what occurred on Sunday, let’s all go to “High Rocks” in awe of God through His Word and prayer! Be still before Him and let Him speak to your heart. Read the Word as a fresh love letter from His hand to you. Cast all your care upon Him. Then break out into a song of rejoicing and thanksgiving because of Who He is and what He has done. He is worthy of it all!

I will extol You, my God, O King;
And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
2 Every day I will bless You,
And I will praise Your name forever and ever.
3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
And His greatness is unsearchable.
(Psalm 145:1-3)

Let’s hike to High Rocks!!

(Monday’s Ministry Encouragement: Written to encourage you, my friend in ministry, to be refreshed and renewed as we live for Christ and look toward the Bema.)
