This is often one of the most difficult statements for a pastor to declare.
Perhaps he is . . .
- Feeling overrun with responsibilities.
- Navigating through a personal trial.
- Sensing the weight of underachievement.
- Under financial strain.
- In bondage to unconfessed sin.
- Bi-vocational and trying to do both well.
- Struggling through an unhealthy marriage.
- Overwhelmed by a wayward child scenario.
- Lonely in the ministry.
Pastor, does this describe you?
There is no shame in asking for help. We are all needy people, even pastors.
Have you been faithfully crying out to the Lord for your scenario? You say, “I’ve been doing that and nothing is happening.” May I encourage you to soak your soul in the following passages: Psalm 34; Matthew 11:28-30; Luke 18:1; Hebrews 4:14-16; James 1:1-12?
God has not forsaken you. View every situation through the lenses of the character of God. Run to the cross. You can trust God with your life.
Do you have a man in the church with whom you can confide? Perhaps a pastor friend in another ministry? We preach Galatians 6:1-2, and we need to live it out from our side. Spiritual believers cannot help a brother in need if he is not willing to reach out for help. The one another’s in Scripture have your name on them. Use the means God has provided within the body of Christ.
More to be said, but Pastor, humble yourself in the sight of God, then reach out to a brother in Christ. If I can be that friend, please contact me at dalewaynecunningham@gmail.com.
Monday’s Ministry Encouragement: Written to encourage you, my friend in ministry, to be refreshed and renewed as we live for Christ and look toward the Bema.
