“I’ll See You Next Sunday!”

For pastors, Mondays can be a difficult day. Instead of dwelling on all the “what ifs,” or “I should have said that,” or “wonder why ____________ wasn’t there yesterday,” or rehashing your sermon with a downhearted spirit, may I encourage you to . . .

  • Start your Monday by genuinely casting all your anxieties on the Lord in prayer. (1 Peter 5:6-7)
  • Remind yourself that Christ is the Head of the Church; that’s not your burden. (Col. 1:18)
  • Be content. Christ is building His Church. (Eph. 2:19-22)
  • Take a walk and while you do, sing, pray, and specifically praise the Lord for His work in creation all around you. Be in awe of God! (Psalm 103:1)
  • Find a coffee shop and spend some time with your wife or go get ice cream with one of your children. (Eph. 5:25; 6:4)
  • Refuse to feel guilty because you are taking a day to rest and be refreshed. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is rest. (Mark 6:31)
  • Feast on the manna of God’s Word. (Psalm 119:103)
  • Count your blessings not your failures.

God is able, and He is faithful! Rest in Him! Trust in Him! Guard your heart! God is more than enough!!

My dad who was a pastor would often say after a difficult Sunday, “Well, I’ll see you next Sunday.”
