Monday’s Ministry Encouragement: Written to encourage you, my friend in ministry, to be refreshed and renewed as we live for Christ and look toward the Bema.

But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God (1 Samuel 30:6).
No matter what happened on Sunday . . . joy or sorrow, a crowd of people or few, decisions or no decisions, sermon flowed or sermon bombed, Twitter boast worthy or “don’t even look at Twitter,” success or stoning, applause or boos, delight or distress . . . here’s where you land on Monday.
David and his men have travelled many miles from Aphek to Ziklag. As they near the city, they see the smoke and the destruction and then are met with the reality that all the women and children have been taken captive, too.
Weak, broken, distressed, without strength and hearing of the desire to stone him, as well as no family or friends to encourage him, David turns to the Lord his God, his only genuine source of strength and help.
Ministry friend, on this Monday, encourage yourself in the Lord your God, no matter what happened on Sunday.
Take a long, meditative look at yesterday and today through the lens of . . .
- The love of the Lord your God
- The faithfulness of the Lord your God
- The grace of the Lord your God
- The mercy of the Lord your God
- The kindness of the Lord your God
- The goodness of the Lord your God
- The promises of the Lord your God
- The compassion of the Lord your God
- The omniscience of the Lord your God
- The presence of the Lord your God
- The omnipotence of the Lord your God
- The immutability of the Lord your God
- The holiness of the Lord your God
What do you see? Who do you see? What is true? How does yesterday look now?
This is where you land. This is what really matters.
May it be said of us, “But ______________ encouraged himself in the Lord his God.”
