Monday Ministry Encouragement

Feeling like you failed in preaching yesterday?

What passage of Scripture did you preach?

Friend, you and I have never delivered a flawless sermon nor will we ever.

Yes, sermon preparation takes much prayer, digging, prayer, typing, prayer, study, prayer, and dependency upon the Lord. How marvelous to know that our God overcomes our human frailty every Sunday.

But here’s the main point of this post today. We are exhorted in 2 Timothy 4:2, “Preach the Word!” The Word is always profitable. The Word always works (Hebrews 4:12). The Word always accomplishes the purpose of God (Isaiah 55:11).

So, did you preach the Word? Then rest in its power, not yours.

By the way, the results of the preached Word are seldom immediately seen. Just as the work of sanctification in your life is a process, so it is in the hearers of your congregation. Trust the Word even when you cannot see the results and when your expectations are not being met.

Paul said it well under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5).

Rest in the power of the Word and enjoy your Monday!!
